Children’s safety comes before any support request.
The project form is not a safeguarding reporting route. Referrers should continue to follow their organisation’s safeguarding policy and make reports to the responsible services without waiting for the project.
If a child is in immediate danger
Call 999. If police help is needed and it is not an emergency, call 101.
For professionals and charity referrers
Follow your organisation’s safeguarding procedure and speak with its designated safeguarding lead. A request to this project does not replace a referral to children’s social care, police or another responsible service. Do not copy a disclosure, case record or investigation detail into the support-request form.
If a short practical point is relevant to the support request, describe only what is necessary. For example, you can say that communication must remain through the referrer. Do not include a diagnosis, alleged perpetrator details or a child’s home address.
Report a concern where the child lives
For a concern that is not an immediate emergency, contact the children’s social care service for the local authority where the child lives.
For a child living in Barnsley
Contact Barnsley Children’s Social Care on 01226 772423, Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm. For an urgent concern outside those hours, call the emergency duty team on 01226 787789.
